
The Mishicot Indians have six of the eight members comprising the Big East North Division All-Conference softball first team.
Senior pitcher Kiran Sanford was a unanimous choice as player of the year. She’s won 21 games so far this season with a minuscule earned run average of .254. Sanford has walked only 18 batters in 24 starts while striking out 276.
Senior shortstop Kaelin Adair leads the Indians in batting at .468 with five home runs and 30 runs batted in, Senior catcher Kasey Brouchoud has been an extension of Head Coach Dawn Shimek’s leadership on the field for three solid years catching a multitude of talented pitchers in her career, including Sanford the last two seasons. She’s batting .398 and is second to Adair in base hits with 33 and is tied for second on the team in runs batted in with 27.
Senior Karysn Krause is a defensive stalwart at third base and leads the Indians in OPS at 1.379. Senior outfielder Emma Schmidt has not made an error in 21 chances and is second on the team with eight doubles, and freshman Cooper Brouchoud has had a breakout season at second base. She’s batting .398, is tied with Adair for the team lead with five home runs and has scored a team-high 31 runs from the leadoff spot in the batting order.
Rounding out the first team is junior infielder Mercedes Grimm of Reedsville and senior outfielder Eva Conrad of Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah.
Mishicot Junior outfielder Sierra Skarda was selected for, second team all-conference. She’s hitting a robust .353 and is second to Kaelin Adair in fielding percentage at .938, having made one error all season.
Joining Skarda on the second team are senior pitcher Kayla Bubolz of Reedsville, seniors Alandra Grenzer and MaKayla Plate, and freshman Leigha Wunrow all of Hilbert, Senior Emily Vogel and junior Sammi Weiss of St. Mary Catholic, and sophomore Dylan Lisowe of Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah.
Honorable Mention recognition was given to Hayden Svatek of Manitowoc Lutheran, Josee Busse, Kortney Dvorachek and Emersyn Sebo of Reedsville, Grace Kloehn of Hilbert and Delaney Maranell of Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah.
