It was another shutout loss for the Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team as they took on De Pere.
The Ships matched the Redbirds with six hits in the ball game, but problems in the field would see the game end 5-0 in favor of De Pere.
The Redbirds opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning and would never surrender it after Will Nikolay doubled and Trenton Kriewaldt singled down the left field line, making the score 2-0.
De Pere would match those two runs in the 4th inning and add an insurance run in the 7th.
Brayden Steinbecker’s solid day on the mound would go to waste as the Ships’ fielding errors would make the score 4-0 despite Steinbecker leaving the game with zero runs earned.
Gabe Eichmann and Kameron Braun led the way for Lincoln at the plate with two hits apiece, but the Ships were unable to capitalize when having runners on base.
The Shipbuilders’ recent struggles against FRCC opponents have them now sitting in 5th place in conference with a 9-6 record, and sit at 16-6 overall
They have an opportunity to get back in the win column later today as they travel to Sheboygan to take on the conference rival South Redwings, who are still in search of their first win of the season.
