A former leader of Manitowoc County has passed away.
Jim Englebert was 89 years old at the time of his death.
He served on the Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors from 1980 to 1988, was on the Board of Adjustment, and served as the Town Chairman for the Town of Two Rivers, just to name a few of his civil service positions.
In his obituary, Jim was described as “larger than life”, and a man who’s life of service stemmed from “a deep and enduring spirit of generosity.”
A perfect example of this was when he and his wife Peggy asked their children to stop getting them gifts around 20 years ago.
Instead, the couple asked them to “donate that money to someone in need and volunteer their time to worthy causes.”
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31st, at Hope Community Church in Manitowoc.
As is tradition, flags in Manitowoc County will be flown at half-staff on the day of his funeral.
