A man from Fond du Lac has been federally indicted for sex crimes against children.
U.S. Attorney Richard Frohling has announced that 26-year-old Ricardo Ortiz has been federally charged with two counts of Sex Trafficking of a Minor and one count of attempting to use a computer to “persuade, induce, and entice” a minor into engaging in illegal sexual activity.
Ortiz is accused of child sex trafficking for actions which took place in March of this year, while his attempt to have sexual contact with a minor took place on approximately April 8th, last month.
This case came forward as part of the nationwide Project Safe Childhood initiative and was investigated by officers and detectives with the Oshkosh Police Department.
If convicted of any of the three charges he faces, the 26-year-old would face a minimum of 10 years in prison, with the maximum being a potential life sentence.
He would also have to register as a sex offender for life and pay up to $250,000 in fines.
