Numerous cities in Northeastern Wisconsin have been awarded millions by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Manitowoc, Two Rivers, and Sheboygan are among those to receive funding to maintain and repair their respective harbors.
Manitowoc has received $5,000 and Two Rivers received $12,000 for operation and maintenance work while the Sheboygan Harbor was awarded with just over $3.8 million to make breakwater repairs.
In total, 23 projects in Wisconsin have been awarded funds by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for harbor-related work.
Sheboygan’s nearly $4 million comes in as the second-highest number in the state behind a $4.33 million project on the Fox River that will fund inspections, surveys, and repair work of dry dock three.
Across the country, more than $5.5 billion in funding was given out as part of the 2025 fiscal year work plan of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for similar repair and maintenance costs to harbors, marinas, and watersheds.
