Manitowoc Lincoln had a tough day at the plate in a loss to Green Bay Preble.
In a game with FRCC standings on the line, the Shipbuilders fell to the rival Hornets 6-0.
The game would remain deadlocked at 0-0 until Preble would get one runner across home plate in the bottom of the 4th inning.
The Hornets would follow it up with three runs in the 5th and two more in the 6th.
Ships pitcher Seth Gibeault would get the start and the loss despite providing five quality innings of work.
He would fan four, surrender two hits, and allow no earned runs.
However, the Ships’ defense could not back up the solid performance on the mound as they would tally seven errors on the day, accounting for all but two of the Hornets’ runs.
Preble hurler Jaden Sonnenburg would get the win in a complete game shutout in a contest that saw him only allow four batters to get on base.
Lincoln would finish the game with three hits at the dish with leadoff man Gabe Eichman and seniors Brayden Steinbecker and Zach Bradl notching one hit apiece.
With the loss the Ships fall to 16-5 on the season, 9-5 in the FRCC.
Lincoln will have the day off today before hosting the FRCC leading De Pere Redbirds tomorrow.
