The Manitowoc County Health Department is reminding fishers to be good stewards of the environment as fly fishing is now underway.
This comes as mayflies and caddisflies are starting to come out, which is great food for brook trout.
But the health department is reminding fishers to keep their hands wet so that the slime on the fish stays there since it protects them from infection.
MCHD also asks residents to check out CHAT or Climate Health Action Together Wisconsin for more information.
The website talks about global climate changes to Wisconsin and what could happen if humans don’t act.
According to CHAT, coastal communities along the great lakes are facing issues like fluctuating water levels, increased storm frequency, and eroding bluffs.
More information can be found online at CHAT’s website.
