There will be some new artwork hanging at the Manitowoc Public School District Central Office.
The MPSD Board of Education purchased three pieces of artwork from three students.
Those students were honored at last week’s Manitowoc Public School Board meeting.
High Schooler Evangeline Manjarrez-Hernandez created a floral batik, which is a wax-resist dying technique used on fabrics.
The second student was Inara Butler, a Washington Middle School student who explored the style of abstraction and color theory using prime colors.
Lastly, Kindergartener Samara Soto-Nieto created a watercolor showcasing her craftsmanship and showing her knowledge of shape and color.
The artwork was on display at the Rahr-West Art Museum as a part of the Youth Art Series in March.
The tradition of the school board purchasing art from students dates to the 1990s.
