The City of Sheboygan is dealing with more legal trouble.
At the City’s Common Council meeting yesterday (May 19th), two new lawsuits concerning the city were discussed. Sheboygan Alders considered retaining outside legal counsel to represent the city in two separate cases.
One case, Katherine Kobs v. the City of Sheboygan, was filed a week ago, while the second case, Markell Nathaniel Mitchell v. Christopher Domagalski, has little to no information available.
Domagalski is the recently retired Sheboygan Police Chief, while Kobs is a former employee of the city in the HR Department.
As little information on either case is available, it is uncertain whether Kobs’ case is connected to a previous lawsuit she filed against the City and the Department of Workforce Development Equal Rights Division.
Sheboygan is also looking to retain Attorney Nicholas Cerwin of Von Briesen and Roper, s.c. to serve as the Interim City Attorney after the resignation of Charles Adams following an investigation conducted by the Fond du Lac Police Department.
A charge of Misconduct in Office was recommended after the investigation was completed; however, no charges were ever filed.
Cerwin, if approved to serve as the Interim City Attorney, would only fill the role temporarily as the city works to fill the position permanently.
