The City of Plymouth is looking to raise prices for electricity for residents.
Last year, the city filed an electric rate increase application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW).
This application to hike costs came to cover increased operational costs for Plymouth Utilities related to inflation and maintenance expenses.
In this application, Plymouth Utilities requested a nearly 8% increase on electric bills.
However, after assessments by the PSCW, if approved, Plymouth residents would see a monthly bill increase of 6% or approximately $5.25 for those using 709 kilowatt-hours of electricity a month.
A hearing on the city’s application will be held virtually on June 25th at 10:00 a.m.
This hearing will feature a public hearing, allowing Plymouth residents to voice questions, comments, or concerns as they relate to the potential increase in electric rates. Additional comments can be submitted online or through the mail ahead of June’s meeting date. The meeting can be viewed online or listened to over the phone for those interested but not attempting to make public comments.
