Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul visited Eau Claire to address concerns over recent federal funding reductions affecting services for crime victims.
Kaul met with victim advocates and community members to discuss how the cuts are straining resources.
He pointed to the Trump Administration’s reduction of Wisconsin’s Victims of Crime Act funding—from $44 million annually to $13 million—as a major blow.
The funding loss has forced several state programs to scale back and resulted in staff layoffs, Kaul said.
