Four bills penned by an area representative in the Wisconsin Senate are one step closer toward becoming law.
Senator Andre Jacque’s Patient Privacy Protection Act has passed both the Assembly and the Senate, and is now headed to Governor Tony Evers’ desk for final approval.
This measure would require hospitals to obtain explicit, written consent from female patients before medical students can perform pelvic examinations while the patient is under anesthesia or unconscious.
Meanwhile, three of his bills passed in the Senate, and now are up for discussion in the Assembly, including Sen. Jacque’s legislation aimed at formally recognizing Hmong and Laotian who fought with U.S. soldiers as Wisconsin veterans.
Another bill, which passed the Senate in a unanimous vote, is a measure that aims to protect victims of “deep fake” pornography, which is when AI is used to make videos or photos of people engaged in acts they did not perform.
Lastly, Sen. Jacque’s Problem-Solving Courts bill also passed, as it aims to enhance public safety and efficiency in the justice system.
