It was a special day for Old Glory Honor Flight during an annual golf outing.
For the last several months, Seehafer Broadcasting has been raising money for the organization that sends veterans to see the memorials in Washington D.C. while thanking them for their service.
Old Glory Honor Flight Executive Director Diane McDonald accepted a $20,000 check yesterday from Seehafer Broadcasting, with the money coming from listeners.
“I am in shock,” McDonald told SeehaferNews.com. “I am just so grateful and gracious and totally humbled. I can’t believe it.”
Seehafer Broadcasting Vice President Terry Stevenson called it an unbelievable thing when he found out the total for the check
“I think the community really stepped up, and it has been an honor for us to be able to contribute towards that donation as well,” he said. “I think it just really goes to show that our community is in full support of the organization and our local veterans.”
The check presentation was part of the Tee It Up Fore Troops Golf Outing at Autumn Ridge Golf Course, which has raised just shy of $50,000 over the past two years.
This year’s goal was to raise $50,000 in just one day.
McDonald noted, “If the $50,000 mark is raised today, that’s 100 veterans that go on their very own tour of honor, which is just incredibly humbling. And we are so grateful.”
McDonald also says that hundreds of veterans in Manitowoc County have gone to DC through their group because the money raised stays local.
