A Green Bay woman will be heading to trial for murder.
45-year-old Tonia Piontek was inside a Brown County courtroom yesterday (May 15th) for her preliminary hearing after being arrested in April in connection to the fatal stabbing of a Green Bay man.
At yesterday’s hearing, Judge Marc Hammer found probable cause in the case and had Piontek bound over for trial as she faces a charge of First-Degree Intentional Homicide with domestic abuse and use of a dangerous weapon modifiers.
The 45-year-old was taken into custody after the Green Bay Police Department was called to the 1300 block of Smith Street for a weapons complaint.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 41-year-old man who had suffered a stab wound and was later pronounced dead.
Investigations and witness interviews that followed suggest that Piontek and the victim got into a domestic disturbance.
After being bound over for trial, Piontek’s $1 million cash bond, which she has not furnished, remains in place.
She will be back in court in Brown County on July 7th for her arraignment.
