Wisconsin has experienced a significant decline in drug overdose deaths.
OD deaths dropped more than 35% in 2024, according to new CDC data released Wednesday.
The nationwide report showed 30,000 fewer overdose fatalities, the largest annual decrease on record.
While experts say more analysis is needed to pinpoint the reasons, potential contributors include wider use of the overdose-reversal drug naloxone, expanded treatment options, and evolving drug use trends.
Other regions with similar declines include Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
