One major road project in Manitowoc is getting underway next Monday (May 19th).
Michigan Avenue between North Rapids Road and Indian Bluff Drive will be completed one-half at a time in order to keep access to the neighborhood south of Michigan Avenue.
City Engineering Division Manager Greg Minikel says Vinton Construction, which is the prime contractor, will begin on the north side of the street first, or in the westbound travel direction, and will take about six weeks to complete.
Starting on June 23rd, the second side, or south side, of the street will be redone.
There will be one lane of one-way traffic in the Eastbound direction only on Michigan Avenue from North Rapids Road to Indian Bluff Drive during the entirety of the project.
Traffic will be detoured onto North 23rd Street to Waldo Blvd and then up North Rapids Road and back to the construction zone on Michigan Avenue.
The entire project is expected to be done on August 8th.
