Oconomowoc police have released body camera footage showing an officer fatally shooting a Sandhill crane last month after residents reported the bird as a nuisance.
One resident had even obtained a permit to legally shoot the federally protected bird.
The Wildlife in Need Center criticized the police department’s decision, saying they could have handled the situation without killing the crane if they had been contacted.
