Lakeland University stands alone amongst other colleges across the state.
The university has been recognized as a Carnegie Opportunity College, the only higher education institution in Wisconsin to receive such a distinction.
This distinction is seen as a prestigious national designation awarded by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, along with the American Council on Education.
Being named a Carnegie Opportunity College means Lakeland is expanding access to higher education opportunities for students of all backgrounds and delivering strong outcomes when it comes to higher earnings in careers obtained by graduates.
In the United States, there are just under 4,000 colleges and universities, and Lakeland University is one of just 479 institutions to get the distinction.
A main concept at Lakeland that has made this award possible includes its Cooperative Education program, which offers students a connection to real-world experience in their desired career path with prominent businesses and organizations in the community, putting them in a better position to flourish after graduation.
