No one was hurt during an apartment fire in Green Bay.
WBAY reports that the Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called to the 500 block of South Fisk Street last night (May 13th) for a cooking fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters began evacuating the building as they observed smoke in the apartment building’s hallways, which was emanating from inside the affected apartment unit.
Fire crews found the fire in the kitchen and worked aggressively to put it out as it had spread to the building’s ceiling.
Eventually, the flames and smoke were cleared; however, the apartment unit has been considered uninhabitable, and the three residents who live there have been displaced.
No injuries were reported to the public or fire personnel.
At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown and under investigation.
Early estimates put the damage done to the apartment building and its contents at approximately $20,000.
The Green Bay Police Department aided the Green Bay Metro Fire Department in the response to the fire, and the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents after the incident.
