Manitowoc Lincoln’s baseball team was shut out for the third consecutive game in a loss to the Ashwaubenon Jaguars.
Despite out hitting Ashwaubenon, the Ships fell yesterday in a low-scoring affair, 1-0.
Another pitchers’ duel for Lincoln was decided in the 4th inning off the bat of Zack Bellile, who hit an RBI double to drive in Michael Bernath for the game’s lone run.
The Ships’ pitching tandem of Seth Gibeault and Gabe Eichmann only surrendered two hits in the ball game, but would walk a total of six batters.
Eichman would get the start and the loss after pitching five innings and registering two K’s.
Eichmann led the way on offense for Lincoln with two of the team’s four hits, while Vance Shroeder and Cade Grapentine would also get one hit apiece.
Ashwaubenon’s Thomas Pfeifer went the distance on the mound to secure the complete game shutout while fanning five Ships batters and walking none.
With the loss, Lincoln falls to 15-4 on the season and 10-4 in the FRCC.
The Manitowoc Lincoln Shipbuilders will return to action tomorrow (May 15th) to try and snap a three-game losing streak at Municipal Field when they take on the Kewaunee Storm.
