A pair of bills penned by an Eastern Wisconsin Senator have taken the next step toward becoming law.
Sen. Andre Jacque’s bills that aim to establish specialized ‘problem-solving’ courts in state law and provide mental health treatment to non-violent offenders have passed Senate Committee votes.
Sen. Jacque tells SeehaferNews.com the specialized, problem-solving courts such as drug and mental health courts have been “growing rapidly throughout the justice system… These courts work across multiple disciplines and institutions to use interventions that treat offenders while also holding them accountable for their criminal actions.”
Senate Bill 80 and Senate Bill 153 must now pass the full Senate and Assembly and be signed by the Governor to become law.
