
A man was arrested in Manitowoc over the weekend after fleeing the scene of a crash in Silver Creek Park.
Officers were dispatched to the south side of the park just before 1:15 p.m. Sunday, where they found a vehicle crashed into a tree.
Three children were near the vehicle, and told the responding officers that they received a message from the driver stating he was involved in the crash and fled because he didn’t want to get caught.
A worker with the Parks Department located the 25-year-old man near a park exit, and he was said to smell of alcohol and was covered in sand.
The man initially denied any involvement, but later admitted to backing into the tree after disc golfing with his friends.
A field sobriety test was administered, which he failed, and a blood draw was conducted at a local hospital.
He was then cited for OWI, his second offense, Hit and Run, Reckless Driving – Endangering Safety, also his second offense, and Operating Without a License, and was arrested on charges of Possession of THC, and six counts of Felony Bail Jumpiong.
