The City of Kiel is looking for public comments for a new management plan at the Kiel Millpond.
The millpond is a 13.8-acre area in the Sheboygan River that stretches from the railroad trestle that crosses the water body near the southwestern edge of the city to the Kiel Dam.
Right now, the waterbody contains 26 native plants, but the city wants to reassess the aquatic plant community so they can update the mechanical harvesting plan.
According to city documents, the abundance of aquatic plants is lower than it was 10 years ago, but how much the waterway has changed can’t be determined.
The City of Kiel is asking residents to submit public comments from now until May 27th.
Residents with comments can send them to kris.august@kielwi.gov.
