Ground has been broken and work has begun on a first-of-its-kind assisted living facility in Sheboygan County.
Dementia Innovations officially broke ground on the Livasu (LIVE AS YOU) project recently, kicking off the construction of the 79-acre project in the Town of Wilson.
Livasu, which combines the words “living as usual,” will include 124 individually owned homes, a village center with an open-to-the-public restaurant, theater, grocery store, and more.
All care and support will be provided by on-site staff. The facility will also allow couples to continue living together, which is often not the case in traditional care models.
Over the past year, Livasu’s leadership team has been working on the design of the village as well as undertaking a large capital campaign, which has a goal of $13.5 million.
Mary Pitsch, the President of Dementia Innovations, spoke highly of the people involved in the planning, and during the groundbreaking ceremony acknowledged “the family members of many of us, both living and deceased, who, because of their dementia journey, have inspired us to do this work”.
