The Rahr-West Art Museum is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2025, marking three-quarters of a century as a public cultural institution.
In 1950, the first official meeting of the Rahr Civic Center Board took place at the City of Manitowoc’s Office of the Clerk.
From that initial meeting, the museum has grown to become a beloved treasure of our community.
The outstanding community support, most exemplified by the enormous contributions of Ruth and John West, led the museum to be nationally recognized as one of America’s best small-town art museums.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th. Georgia O’Keeffe Tea in the Mansion (Ticketed Event) 1:30-3:00 p.m.
