With spring now upon us, and as the flowers begin to bloom, so do seasonal allergies.
Emplify Health by Bellin is providing valuable information to help everyone navigate this challenging season. The first step in managing allergies is recognizing the symptoms.
Rachel Chastain, APNP, notes that the most common symptoms of a seasonal allergy are “itchy eyes and/or throat, symptoms appearing during the same time every year and lasting longer than a typical cold.”
These typically come from tree, grass, and weed pollens, but mold, dander, and dust mites could also trigger the symptoms.
Emplify Health by Bellin encourages those with seasonal allergies to monitor pollen counts and limit outdoor activity on high-pollen days, keep windows closed to keep pollen out of homes, use an air purifier, regularly clean your home, and avoid hanging laundry outside.
Emplify also encourages community members to speak with their primary care provider or pediatrician about their allergy concerns.
