An Appleton man has been convicted in a hit-and-run involving a bicyclist.
According to court records, 29-year-old Alic Riedel pleaded no contest to hit and run involving great bodily harm during a plea hearing in Outagamie County Court yesterday (May 8th).
Fox 11 reports that the incident happened in the 400 block of N. Meade Street in July last year.
Riedel struck the bicyclist with his vehicle and then left the scene.
Riedel told police he thought someone threw a rock at his car.
Prosecutors say the victim suffered “massive” injuries, including some to the head.
According to the criminal complaint, Riedel knew that something hit his windshield, and he confirmed he didn’t stop after it happened.
He also told law enforcement that he did not remember seeing someone on a bike and that he didn’t see the reflective light of the bicycle.
