The Sheboygan Area School District is doing its part to plant more trees along with other local organizations.
Restoration of Our Trees-Sheboygan (ROOTS) and the Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) have partnered with the SASD to plant 95 trees at schools in the district on Saturday (May 10th).
The event in Sheboygan will begin at North High School at 8:00 a.m. with a tree planting demonstration by North High Botany Instructor David Miller.
After trees are planted at North High, the organizations and those in attendance will move to Pigeon River Elementary and Etude Elementary to plant the remaining trees.
Any community member interested in helping out in the reforestation efforts is encouraged to attend at any time during the event.
This SASD-ROOTS-LNRP collaboration to plant trees started last year with a similar large-scale planting at Grant and Cooper Elementary Schools.
The work done has been funded by mainly private donors as well as an initial grant through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Those who do choose to lend a hand are urged to dress accordingly with proper gloves and footwear.
