Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected yesterday (May 8th) as the first American born Pope to lead the Catholic Church.
He selected Pope Leo XIV (The 14th) as his papal name.
Church bells at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Marshall Avenue in Manitowoc rang in celebration of the new leader in the Vatican.
Prevost was born in Chicago but has been a missionary in Peru.
CBS News also reported that Pope Leo speaks five languages has can read in both Latin and German.
