There was a small fire at a Manitowoc wastewater retention pond this afternoon (May 7th).
Manitowoc Fire-Rescue responded to the ponds located west of the intersection of Michigan Avenue and River Bluff Drive on a report of a tractor on fire.
Battalion Chief Jason Wagner tells SeehaferNews.com that the tractor was one of two that were agitating the pond when it caught fire, likely due to a mechanical issue.
The wind actually helped firefighters contain the blaze, with one firefighter saying if it was blowing the other way, a nearby field could have caught fire.
There were no injuries reported, and Manitowoc Fire-Rescue was the only entity on scene.
