The expansion of a Manitowoc company into Two Rivers is officially underway.
Rush Logistics held a ceremonial groundbreaking for their future 6,000 square foot building in the Woodland Industrial Park in Two Rivers.
Vice President of Operations John Robinson explained to Seehafernews.com that the shipping service company thought about expanding in 2021, around the COVID-19 pandemic, because they became very busy.
They also don’t have the space they need.
“We have semi-tractor trailers, 26-foot trucks, a slew of cargo vans, and cargo vans,” he explained. “This will have enough space. We’ll have more docks to put in.”
The new building will provide more space for what the company has and could allow for even more growth.
Robinson explains that the company has done a lot already.
“We’ve also expanded our next day shipping to try and keep up with the bigger carriers to where we can run the whole state of Wisconsin, northern Illinois,” he noted. “We do all that stuff, next day service now, which ten years ago, we didn’t have the fleet or the amount of people to be able to do that.”
During the groundbreaking, members from ACE Building Service and the City of Two Rivers participated in shoveling dirt as a sign of construction starting.
Robinson says he and all 53 employees are excited about the opportunity.
“Tremendously excited,” he said. “Happy to partner with the City of Two Rivers to find this nice spot. Happy to be working with A.C.E. Building Service and UnitedOne Credit Union, who are our partners on this. And looking forward to seeing this progress over the summer.”
Rush Logistics was started by Jesse Patrick in 2003 when he only had a single cargo van.
Since then, the company has become a source for expedited shipping throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
Robinson says the new building should be completed by October because they want to move in before the snow flies.
