Students in the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) have received high honors.
SASD has announced that 103 students from the 12 elementary schools in the district have been awarded the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
To earn this distinction, students were required to meet rigorous criteria. This included ranking in the top 15 percent in reading and math scores on the STAR assessment.
It also included receiving top grades in subjects of Language Arts Effort, Timely Language Arts Work Completion, Mathematics Effort, Timely Mathematics Completion, Cooperation with Others, Following Directions, Demonstrating Self-Control, and Working Independently.
In the announcement, SASD also stated great appreciation to all teachers and educators who played a role in the students receiving the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
