The City of Sheboygan is starting the search to find the next operator of the Kiwanis Park Biergarten.
The City’s Board of Marina, Parks, and Forestry will meet today (May 6th) at 4:15 p.m. with one topic of discussion relating to finding the next person or company to run the Biergarten.
The board has begun to accept proposals from those interested, with questions due by Friday (May 9th) and official proposals due on May 15th by 1:00 p.m.
Those who make proposals may be asked to attend city meetings, make oral presentations, or make sites available for site inspections.
The need to find a new operator comes after the former longtime vendor, John Powers of Power Pubs LLC, chose not to renew his contract with the city.
City documents show that Powers initially looked to extend the contract to operate the Biergarten but with some specific conditions.
One of the main conditions included his desire to be the only entity to be allowed to run a Biergarten in the city.
However, the City stated they were not in a position to honor that request, and Powers stated that he would no longer be renewing his contract to run the Kiwanis Park Biergarten this summer.
More information on the proposal requirements and process can be found in the Board of Marina Parks, and Forestry meeting agenda.
