
An arrest has been made in connection with a hit-and-run accident in Manitowoc over the weekend.
The Manitowoc Police Department and EMS responded to the intersection of South 10th and Washington Streets at 11:00 Sunday evening (May 4th) on a report of a motorcyclist who was struck by a vehicle.
The operator of the motorcycle was taken by EMS to Green Bay due to the extent of his injuries.
A piece of a vehicle that was not part of the motorcycle was located among the wreckage, which had the VIN of the suspect vehicle.
This led police to the owner of the vehicle, who noted that a 35-year-old man had been driving it that evening.
The officers were able to make contact with the suspected driver, who claimed to be in Sheboygan, however, the suspect vehicle was located at a local collision repair shop.
The vehicle was impounded, and video surveillance showed the suspect dropping the vehicle off and walking away.
The suspect was eventually located and is facing charges of Operating while Revoked and Hit and Run, both with Causing Great Bodily Harm enhancers, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Obstructing an Officer, and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The extent of the injuries sustained by the motorcyclist is not known at this time.
