The City of Chilton is getting ready for Calumet County’s next household hazardous waste event.
It takes place this Friday (May 9th) at the Chilton Public Works Garage from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Calumet County residents will have to register to be allowed to drop off hazardous materials.
Household hazardous materials are found in places like basements, garages, under kitchen sinks, and in workshops.
A full list of items that will and will not be accepted at the waste event can be found on the Calumet Recycles page of calumetcounty.org.
The county reminds residents that improperly disposing of household hazardous materials can threaten the quality of our drinking water, increase the threat of algae blooms, and threaten the safety of sanitation workers.
In addition, hazardous materials left around the house and garage pose an accidental risk to children and pets.
