Bond has been set for a former teacher in Appleton charged with sexually assaulting a student.
43-year-old Rebecca Ryan made her initial appearance in an Outagamie County courtroom on Thursday as she has been charged with three felony counts of Sexual Assault of a Student by School Staff.
At Thursday’s appearance, Ryan had her bond set at $50,000 cash.
Ryan, a former teacher at Appleton West High School, was arrested for incidents that occurred in 2017 and 2018.
The Appleton Police Department has stated that an investigation into the 43-year-old determined that she engaged in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
However, Appleton PD also said that Ryan “was not employed as a teacher at the time of her arrest and the investigation remains ongoing.”
The terms of her bond include no contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 18, except her own children.
Ryan is due for a preliminary hearing tomorrow at 10:15 a.m.
