An Eastern Wisconsin State Senator is highlighting one of his bills which is making its way through the legislature.
Senator Andre Jacque’s Reemployment Assistance Act recently passed an Assembly vote, moving it one step closer to becoming law.
He tells SeehaferNews.com that the measure aims to refocus the state’s unemployment assistance program.
“The Reemployment Assistance Act directs the state’s workforce agency to make job searches more meaningful by providing access to additional existing best practice reemployment tools that will help our out-of-work citizens find jobs faster,” Jacque explained.
Sen. Jacque noted that getting unemployed individuals back into the workforce is a double-edged sword.
“By reorienting the mission of this program toward helping people find work, we can enable them to start their next opportunity sooner while helping employers connect with the skills and talent they need right now,” he said.
He also noted that when claimants return to work even a week earlier, millions of dollars are saved in the unemployment trust fund, which helps keep tax rates low.
