A couple of safety bills are making their way through the Wisconsin Legislature.
Senate Majority Leader and 9th District State Senator Devin LeMahieu said on the WCUB Breakfast Club that two public safety bills made it through the senate and on to the assembly.
The first bill bans license plate concealers, which block license plates from being read.
LeMahieu stated, “So we made sure that we made that illegal in Wisconsin so people can’t try to evade police officers if they are doing illicit or illegal things.”
The second bill also requires prosecutors to get permission from a judge to dismiss a charge against someone.
Another bill LeMahieu highlighted that expands coverage for mothers who have just had a child from sixty days to a year.
LeMahieu noted, “But it’s just important that new mothers and new babies get the healthcare that they need in that first crucial year period to make sure that they’re health and can become strong and grow up.”
Some bills that were similar last session didn’t make it through the Assembly.
