Thanks to the quick actions of firefighters, no one was hurt during a fire near Interstate 41.
The Vandenbroek Kaukauna Fire Department was called to the area of I-41 and County Road JJ on Wednesday (April 30th) at approximately 2:45 p.m. on reports of a vegetation fire.
Upon their arrival, fire crews observed three separate fires actively burning in the area.
Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the flames from the frontage road without having to access I-41 while preventing any spread onto either roadway.
After the fire was put out, the site was cleared just after 3:30 p.m.
At this time, the cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
However, the Vandenbroek Kaukauna Fire Department took the incident as an opportunity to remind the public to properly and safely dispose of smoking materials in an effort to avoid similar situations in the future.
