Bond for the former Mishicot High School gym teacher charged with child sexual assault will not be reduced.
That was the ruling during Ryan Scott Schroeder’s latest appearance in Manitowoc County court yesterday.
Schroeder first waived his right to a preliminary hearing before pleading not guilty to 19 charges against him.
They include repeated sexual assault of the same child, 2nd-degree sexual assault, and 10 counts of possession of child pornography, among others.
Following the plea, Schroeder’s Attorney, David Pawlowski, asked Judge Mark Roher to reduce his client’s bond from $150,000 to $50,000.
Powlowski argued that the bond motion was filed before the filing of an amended Criminal Complaint.
Prosecutors and a victim representative made statements against the bond reduction. Roher denied the modification, saying it’s set appropriately.
He did allow Schroeder to be able to have contact with his children while in custody, but the children’s mother must be present.
Schroeder will return to court on June 17th for a scheduling conference.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested him last month because he had sexual contact with a student over 50 times, including 10 times at Mishicot High School.
He’s also been accused of exchanging nude photos with another student.
