Florence A. Wellner, age 92, a Manitowoc resident, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Shady Lane Nursing Home, Manitowoc.
Florence was born on June 6, 1932 in Rockwood to the late John P. and Cecelia (Hassemer) Meyer. She attended schools in Francis Creek and Rockwood, and completed her education by obtaining her GED and her certification as a clerk typist from Lakeshore Technical College. On August 22, 1953, Florence married Paul Wellner at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2008. Florence had worked at Mirro Corporation, then became a homemaker raising her three children, and later resumed working in 1984 when she became a nurse’s assistant at Holy Family Convent until her retirement in 1992. Florence was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Catholic Knights, and assisted with counting collections money for the church. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Rosary and Altar Society and St. Mary Conference of St. Vincent de Paul.
Florence is survived by her 3 children: Cheryl (Gerald) Krahn, Brillion; Michael (Pattie) Wellner, Manitowoc; and Lee Ann (Brian) Lorrigan, Mountain; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Florence was preceded in death by her parents: John P. and Cecelia Meyer; husband: Paul; three brothers and three sisters-in-law: Edmund (Leona) Meyer, Charles (Dixie) Meyer, and Julius (Arlene) Meyer; and four sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann (Alvin) Cisler, Helen (Frank) Zahorik, Cecelia (Arnold) Strouf, and Viola (Jerry) Schroeder; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Eunice (Ervin) Korlesky.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 S. 21 Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Florence will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc.
