For the third time this month, an Eastern Wisconsin teacher has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.
The Appleton Police Department reports that Rebecca Ryan, a former teacher at Appleton West High School, was arrested for incidents that occurred in 2017 and 2018.
An investigation determined that Ryan engaged in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, which was reported to the police in March of this year.
Ryan was arrested on three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child by a School Staff Member and remains in custody in the Outagamie County Jail.
The Appleton Police Department did note that Ryan “was not employed as a teacher at the time of her arrest and the investigation remains ongoing.”
This is the third such arrest in our area this month, with Mishicot Gym Teacher Ryan Scott Schroeder and Collin Killoren, a St. Ignatius Catholic School in Kaukauna, also being arrested on child sex charges.
