
A nonprofit in Sheboygan County held its annual awards gala last week.
The United Way of Sheboygan County’s 2025 Spirit Awards was held on Thursday (April 24th) and honored those who made the biggest impact on the community over the past year.
Each year, the United Way hands out awards to people, groups, or organizations based on their achievements or actions in categories centered around volunteers.
This year, Michael Finney of the Production Farm was named Volunteer of the Year and Sheboygan South High School received the Group or Team Volunteers of the Year.
Sophia Lieffring and Yesenia Vera, also of Sheboygan South, received the Youth Start Volunteer Award, while Lighthouse Recovery Community Center of Sheboygan County was named the Outstanding Volunteer Board of Directors Award.
Other distinguished awards handed out included the Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin receiving the Community Spirit Award, and Wayne Bennin from Scouting America, whose accomplishments earned him the Lifetime Achievement Award.
