Fishing season in Wisconsin is back this week.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding anglers that the 2025-2026 general inland fishing season will open across the state on Saturday (May 3rd).
Wherever someone chooses to fish, residents and nonresidents age 16 or older are required to purchase a general fishing license.
The standard annual resident license will cost $20, while a spousal license can be bought for $31. New for this upcoming fishing season will be the recently debuted Wisconsin Fishing Finder.
This is an interactive database charting all of the state’s waterways, giving those who wish to wet a line all the information needed when looking for a specific type of fish to catch and where to do it.
Along with fishing season, the DNR also reminds fishes to do their part to minimize the spread of invasive species, follow proper safe release protocols, and review all rules and regulations for the waters where you are fishing.
