Three friends from the New Jersey area made the trip to Green Bay to experience the NFL Draft.
Since 2021, Paul Farrington, Jack Weinberger, and Robert “Ziggy” Ziegler have been producing videos together under the moniker “The Paul Farrington Show”.
Paul has a lengthy history in sports media, working for the likes of Colin Cowherd.
Since its inception, the channel has amassed over 18,000 subscribers, and this year, they decided to pull the trigger on a trip to the NFL Draft because, as Paul told us, it felt like fate.
“A couple of years ago now, we started putting out some Packer videos,” he explained. “We’re Vikings fans, Jackson’s a Steeler fan, but as Jordan Loves ascension started to happen, two seasons ago, we started to react miserably to that as any rational Vikings fan would. Packer fans find a lot of joy in our misery, and when, with the draft in Green Bay and a lot of our following being Packers fans, we had to come.”
Even though Paul and “Ziggy” are avid Vikings fans, the namesake of the show did say Green Bay welcomed them with open arms.
“I’ve really enjoyed this entire trip. I think Lambeau Field has been awesome. I think the whole community is great, actually,” he admitted. “Kind of reminds me of Notre Dame, having just a small town completely absorbed with football. You can’t find that in many places in the world really.”
Despite having the chance to work with a renowned sports commentator like Cowherd, Paul puts this trip to Green Bay very high on his list of life accomplishments.
“This is probably number one,” he said without a second thought. “We haven’t gone on any other trips like this. This is the first time we’ve done something this big. We’ve had people recognize us out around the stadium. It’s actually been kind of surreal.”
The trio live-streamed their reactions to the entire first round of the draft on Thursday, and to say Paul and Jack were not pleased with Minnesota’s choice in Ohio State Guard Donovan Jackson would be an understatement.
Ziggy got a kick out of their reaction and even hit them with a mocking “Skoal” chant.
However, Paul has admitted that he was too quick to judge.
“After taking some time, the Vikings’ offensive line has been a problem for a long time, especially the interior,” he noted. “And they made moves to address that this offseason for the first time. So I don’t want to be the Vikings fan, the typical Vikings fan that everyone’s mentioned, where we finally addressed the problem, and I’m still unhappy.”
As a whole, Paul and the crew told us they had a wonderful time and will likely try to make a trip to the NFL Draft a yearly tradition.
