The League of Women Voters of Manitowoc County and RUTH (Responding with Understanding, Truth and Hope) Manitowoc are inviting the public to learn more about the impact immigrants have had on our county.
The groups will hold an informational and discussion session in the Fireside Room of First Lutheran Church on May 1st.
During the session, guests will learn about the over 19,000 immigrant workers who live in Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Winnebago, and Fond du Lac Counties and how they are essential for the dairy industry and a significant part of the hospitality, manufacturing, and food industries as well as health care services.
Speakers will include an immigration lawyer, members of the farming, business, and immigrant communities, as well as representatives from the wider community.
The public is invited to share their experiences and concerns as well.
The event will begin at 6:00 at the church located at 521 North 8th Street in Manitowoc.
