The Friends of the Manitowoc River Watershed is asking the public to help them clean up Manitowoc beaches next month.
The project is a part of the Alliance for the Great Lakes, Adopt-a-Beach Program, where thousands of volunteers participate in clean-ups across all five Great Lakes.
Volunteers remove hundreds of thousands of pieces of litter and tens of thousands of pounds of litter from Great Lakes shorelines.
This year’s beaches being addressed locally on May 10th are Silver Creek Park Beach, University Beach, Lakefront Beach, YMCA Beach, Lighthouse Park Beach.
Volunteers are encouraged to dress in layers. All supplies are provided by FMRW- nitrile gloves, buckets, pickup sticks, and garbage bags, but if nitrile gloves are not your preferred choice, bring your own work gloves.
To join the event, volunteers can call or text Kim at 920-242-1993 to sign up to help clean their favorite beach.
