The Manitowoc Police Department is spreading the word about its annual Police Cadet Program.
This includes current 8th grade students set to graduate from middle school who are 14 years old.
The police Cadet program is open to anyone ages 14 to 20 interested in learning more about a career in law enforcement.
The cadets will meet on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Manitowoc Police Department from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Here, participants will learn how officers use cutting-edge equipment and present-day tactics to maintain peace and combat crime in the city.
Additional training will include first-hand experiences in drunk driving investigations, crime scene management, room clearing, firearms proficiency, and much more.
There will also be opportunities through the program to earn community service hours toward graduation for high school students.
Anyone interested in signing up for the Manitowoc PD Police Cadet Program can contact Captain Jeremy Kronforst at jkronforst@manitowoc.org.
