Three bills written by a local state senator are one step closer to becoming law.
Senator Andre Jacque’s bill aimed at providing more educational options for military families, his clean water bill, and the measure aimed at fighting violent crime all passed in the Senate in unanimous fashion.
Sen. Jacque calls the clean water bill a “‘win-win’ measure that removes a barrier to making the environmental and agricultural best practice of manure composting more economically viable for Wisconsin farmers, reducing the pressure on dairy farms to excessively spread it.”
The military education measure aims to extend the current 30-day deadline to 90 days after their orders are issued for a military parent to apply under open enrollment in our state and to clarify that this policy also applies to military orders from guard and reserve units from any state.
Sen. Jacque said of the violent crime bill, “Clearly, we need to protect people as well as property, and these common-sense legislative revisions that will bring justice to criminals and their victims.”
All three measures must now pass in the Assembly before going to Governor Tony Evers’ desk for final approval.
