The City of Kiel is purchasing a new ambulance, but not a special piece of equipment that comes with it.
The City Council approved the $280,195 ambulance purchase but decided to table buying the ambulance cot that would have come with it for about $62,000.
According to city documents, the price of an ambulance cot will continue to go up by the time the city gets it.
That wouldn’t be until 2027.
Ambulance Service Director Richard Isley explained that the current cots the two ambulances have are only between two and four years old.
The new ambulance would be delivered to the city until 2028.
The city will replace an ambulance that was delivered in 2007.
